Ten on Tuesday

This one was hard for me. I'm thinking to myself - there's lots of stuff people don't know about me, do I really want to share any of it? But I've picked what's left of my brain and came up with ten that I don't mind sharing with blogging world. Some may be surprise to the reader, some may not. So on that note, here's my Ten on Tuesday:

Ten Things You May Not Know About Me:

1. I LOVE country music
2. I used to be really into punk and once sported a mohawk (hence the nickname Mindrella - it's a carry over from those days)
3. I can change the battery, alternator and belt in my car
4. I won an award for being the top student in Home Economics in ninth grade (Yeah, I know. I'm still scratching my head over that one)
5. I used to be a musical theater major and once dreamed of being on Broadway
6. I was engaged twice
7. I was an exchange student and lived in Greece for 3 months between my junior and senior year
8. I collect Cinderellas
9. I played violin for 10 years.
10. This is the thinnest I've ever been in my adult life.

Accentuate the Positive

According to Christine's blog, that's the theme for today. So my positive post is about my nephews Matthew and Joshua. Matt is almost 4 and Joshua is 2 1/2. Now I know what everyone is thinking - "hey she doesn't have any brothers and sisters, how does she have nephews?" Actually, they're the sons of my bestfriend's sister so I'm really an aunt by association.

Both boys are extremely active and are without a doubt -- boys. They play rough and hard. Their latest game is to butt their heads into you. I usually pick them up and throw them over my shoulder (which they love) or spin them around as fast as Aunt Mindi can go without making herself sick (which they love just as much but more so I think because it makes Aunt Mindi walk funny after she puts them down). I also have another nephew, Anthony Javier, on the way. He's due in August.

Damn its HOT!

Okay it's 9:00 p.m. and it's 85 fricken degrees in my apartment right now and that's WITH the fan. SIGH! Actually, I don't mind when it's hot. I go to the beach or if I can't go to the beach I stay outside as long as I can. Today I had to work for a few hours so I decided to walk to work and walk home instead of driving. It took a little over an hour but it was nice to be outside. Although walking home was a bit harder since it was mostly uphill.

I'm doing all this because I'm way out of shape and I've signed up to do the Camp Pendleton 10k Mud Run on June 6. That gives me 5 weeks to get into shape. I hope I can do it. Actually I'm not worried about the run itself (6.2 miles) it's the obstacles that I'm worried about. I have tires to run through, hurdles in puddles of mud to jump over, 2 streams to run across, two 5 foot walls to climb over, a tunnel to crawl through, one steep hill to run up and another hill made of mud to run up and to finish it off I have to crawl through a huge lake of mud (see the picture on the link). Doesn't that sound like fun?! No? Okay, I think Anita and Linda J are taking reservations to cheer me on from the couch.
